Petros Gaitanos writes ...

The years go by and our presence through words, deeds and manners registers and comprises the unknown mosaic of our course.

We artists share our course of life with the whole world, especially when our artistic work is inspired by and activated for society.

It seems to me so interesting that as time goes by, the essence of those elements that characterise my self, especially my musical self, whose fruit I so often search and find through the feeling of the world, becomes more and more important.

When I hear someone talk to me about his feeling or experience in relation to my work and how this has influenced his life, it is as if I have inadvertently given something to someone and he in turn feels awkward for keeping it, if at some point he realises that it hasn’t been his all along…

All this journey is magical, and it seems so intense while you are living it, but as time elapses it gets simplified, just like love, which is full of promises and vows, sacrifices and whispers of tenderness, tension and despair.

Everything is so intense and yet so distant and powerless when things fade with the passing of unrestrained and implacable time.

What remains from love is all that has to do with the human approach and nothing related to the casual illusion.

That is more or less how I feel about all this material I have interpreted throughout the years of my career, concerts in all parts of the planet, thousands of spectators, appearances on the Public Means of Communication often with millions of viewers and thousands of spectators and readers, statements of other co-travellers-artists from all fields, truth and lies intermingled, impressions and futility, dreams and experiences of success.

Circles of life, both known and unknown. History repeats itself and man remains unchanged.

Sometimes as a protagonist, some other times as a spectator, I have experienced this journey up to the present, with people rejecting what they do not understand and what does not fit, and keeping in their worthy or unworthy search what stresses the colours of the identity they have “issued” with their spontaneous enrolment in society.

I’ve been watching the course and the conclusion of many artists, in and out of my country, I am left with a strange taste, and I try to clear up what comes next, simplicity, worthwhile material, the material that serves the values, the most important ones, those of the man, with God in the centre, less vanity, why not, even less submission to materialism, understanding of other artists’ anguish to fill their empty parts and their insecurity, understanding of everyone’s imperfect approach.

With the completion of almost 20 years in the Greek discography, having recorded with consistency and yearning the three main and useful kinds of music, modern, traditional and ecclesiastic-Byzantine, I have come to realise how different things I have matched to my voice, my expression and the awareness of my place in this course.

I am really glad that I have dealt with all these kinds of music, simultaneously, substantially, creatively and successfully. Simultaneously, because I cannot do without any one of them, as they all interest me and I do not just interpret them out of artistic quest, substantially, as I discern my target more and more clearly and joy embraces me faithfully and intimately in my peaceful life, creatively, as my life has always been full of worthwhile and revealing creation, since it closes the circle of my eternal, inconceivable quest, successfully, as my fellow-human beings often tune in to my frequencies, but hopefully and basically to the frequency of life, which is the source of my inspiration.

This box includes the most powerful and successful samples of my work, my expression, Petros’ character, in general.

Please, allow me, in this speedy day and time, to humbly place them somewhere near you.

Let all that is His will stay among us and echo and express us as it is meant to be. As chance would have it I sang this material, as chance would have it you listened to it.

Let us travel well.
